The Association Center for Development and Education held a training today at the premises of the City Library “Borka Taleski” in Prilep titled “First psychological aid and support for the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of users of social and health services at home.” The training was conducted by our psychologists who provide psychological aid and support through the “Transakt” project.

The lectures covered several topics such as psychological aid and support and why it is important, when it is needed, how to proceed, and which principles are applied for its successful implementation. Examples from everyday practice, practical advice, and tools were shared, as well as techniques for mental stimulation that social and health service providers can use in daily care and support for users. Additionally, a brief overview was given of the most common conditions and changes in mental health encountered in older adults, with guidelines on how to recognize them and ways to provide support to users with such health issues.

The training also included a section focused on self-care for social and health service providers, as well as self-help techniques, emphasizing that seeking support for oneself is not a sign of weakness but of responsibility!

Social and health service providers are an important link in the healthcare and social protection system, especially for the individuals they care for, and often represent someone's voice, warmth, and security. Recognizing and properly responding to psychological difficulties is an important aspect in dealing with and approaching this vulnerable category of citizens; therefore, the association continuously works on strengthening human capacities to provide quality social and health services for users. Additionally, efforts are made to create a team that shows care for themselves, care for the users, and care for the community.
