Organized by the Association Center for Development and Education Prilep, today a workshop titled “Community Nurse – Establishing the Community Nurse Service through Knowledge Exchange and Activities” was held, the first social health service of this kind in our country!
At the event, Mr. Harald Fuger, attaché at the Austrian Federal Ministry, spoke and emphasized that this cooperation represents a significant step towards strengthening primary healthcare and is part of a broader vision for the integration of health and social services at the regional level.
Representatives from other countries in the region were also present, sharing successful practices:
• Ms. Kristina Shindleger – Austrian Ministry of Social Affairs, who presented the development of the service through the establishment of legal procedures, standards, and procedures for monitoring and evaluating the success of the service.
• Ms. Jeta Deda – Director of the Health Care Services Operator (HCSO), who shared experience in the field of home healthcare provided by nurses in the Republic of Albania.
• Mr. Besim Nuri – General Director of the Regional Health Operator in Tirana, presented the practical and policy experiences from the “Health for All” project. From the presentation, we could see that the Republic of Albania and our country face the same challenges regarding the provision of social and health services, and that regional cooperation is needed to ensure joint support in multiplying good practices for the development of socio-health services.
The goal of the Community Nurse service is to provide professional health and social care directly in the homes of those who need it most — elderly people, chronically ill, persons with reduced mobility, and individuals at social risk.
The community nurse will serve as a bridge between the health and social systems, offering individualized care, advice, preventive activities, and continuous support.
The service is financially supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection within the TRANSAKT Project, as part of a broader regional initiative to strengthen primary healthcare and integrate social and health services.
